I like the french country feel to them and the understated design elements.
These bowls are well made, and a perfect size for our Pembroke Corgi. We got the matching cookie jar to complete the set and absolutely love them. Much nicer than your typical plastic bowls you might pick up from WalMart. I can see a concern here about dropping them, especially because we prepare our dog's food in the kitchen, but breaking porcelain on the floor is to be expected if you drop it - no matter what the product. Our dog eats on tile and they are heavy enough to not move around (probably wouldn't be true for a Mastiff), but we don't worry about them being damaged from normal use.
If you are considering these bowls, take the plunge and buy them. While you're at it, get the matching cookie jar - they are great items!
