Attractive, sturdy, and above all microwave safe, January 24, 2011 By This review is from: Petrageous Designs City Pets 8" Pet Bowl, Bones (Misc.) The Petrageous Designs City Pets 8" Pet Bowl is the perfect dog bowl for our 55 lb. boxer-mix dog. The bowl is heavy enough so that it does not slide under the table when she eats like the previous plastic bowl. The 6 inch size would be too small for a dog of this size.
Most of all, we wanted to switch from plastic bowls to a ceramic bowl because we heat her food in the microwave, especially the remainder of the canned food that has been refrigerated after opening. We started microwaving her food after having read in the New Skete dog books that cold food can be hard on the digestion. The Petrageous Designs City Pets Bowl is microwave-safe and does not get hot or even slightly warm after microwaving for 30 seconds to 1 min.
The bowl is dishwasher safe and has survived washing without breakage or chipping. It has not chipped when mixing dry and canned dog food inside. Even shaking a metal spoon against the rim to loosen the dog food has not caused breakage. I... Read more

I have a 100lb German Shepherd and 2 cats. The dog won't drink out of a plastic bowl and the cats won't drink out of a metal bowl. It's dishwahser safe, which I love, and very heavy so it won't slide across the floor. Good quality; no flaking or chips.
